Virtus Daily Blog #92 - Being a good teammate
“Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”
I believe that one of our highest orders as a human being is to contribute to something bigger than ourselves.
To give to a collective. To have a hand in a process, outcome or result that we could not have achieved on our own.
To be a vital cog in the machine, you must know your role, or identify the gaps that need filling. You must be willing to sacrifice your resources for the greater good. You must be willing to lead from the front, from behind, from any position imaginary.
Leadership is taking ownership of a result that is outside your locus of control.
Sacrificing for the team is leadership & leadership is contribution.
Contribution is at the heart of true fulfillment, true happiness, and true belonging.
It is not what you are given, but what you give, that makes a life worth living.
I would rather fail and learn all over again in a team environment than succeed by myself*
“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”
*Individual success does not exist, it is always the product of much assistance along the way.
